Issue October 2026

Czech Republic ad rules in 2026

Czech advertisers work in a market with a strong local search engine. Seznam runs its own search and display network, sold through Sklik, next to Google. The 2026 rule changes are EU-wide: political and issue ads face labelling and targeting limits since 10 October 2025, the Digital Services Act is enforced through national coordinators, and Google requires a certified consent platform for EEA traffic. A Czech plan that covers only Google misses part of search demand, and one that skips consent checks under-reports results.

Two search engines, one budget

Documented: official source

Sklik covers Seznam search results and its content network of Czech sites. Keyword research, negative lists and conversion tracking have to be set up separately from Google Ads, and reporting needs to bring both into one view so the budget can move between them.

EU rules that apply in 2026

Documented: official source

Political ads in the EU now need a label and a transparency notice, and targeting with personal data needs explicit consent. The Digital Services Act adds advertising transparency duties for online platforms, supervised by national coordinators. Consent for cookies and similar identifiers remains a separate requirement, which Google enforces for EEA traffic through its certified consent platform rule.

Opportunities this year

FOCUSADS view

Advertisers who treat Seznam as a second search engine, with its own keywords and bids, often find demand that Google-only plans leave alone. FOCUSADS includes Sklik in Czech plans where the goal and category fit, and reports both search engines against the client’s own outcome data.

Canada news, tax and ad rules in 2026

Three facts shape Canadian digital advertising in 2026. Meta has blocked news content on Facebook and Instagram in Canada since August 2023 in response to the Online News Act. Google holds an exemption from the Act in exchange for paying C$100 million a year, distributed to news outlets by the Canadian Journalism Collective. Canada announced on 29 June 2025 that it would rescind its 3% digital services tax. For advertisers, news audiences on Meta are gone, publisher inventory reached through other routes carries more of the news context, and platform pricing is no longer exposed to the DST.

Germany’s consent and ad rules in 2026

Germany created a legal route around repeated cookie banners. The Consent Management Ordinance (EinwV) has applied since 1 April 2025, and on 17 October 2025 the federal data protection commissioner recognised the first consent management service. Use is voluntary, and ordinary consent banners remain lawful. EU rules on political advertising and AI-generated content add a second layer for campaigns in 2026.

  3. Cross-industry, Denmark

    Denmark advertising rules in 2026

Denmark’s 2026 changes come mostly from EU law. Since 10 October 2025 paid political ads must carry a label and transparency notice, and the large platforms have stopped selling political and issue ads in the EU. The Digital Services Act is enforced through national coordinators, which adds a local route for complaints about ads on platforms. Google’s consent requirements for the EEA apply to Danish traffic. For commercial advertisers the main work is checking issue-based messaging and keeping consent and measurement in order.
