Search, online and digital media
Performance Max that adds sales
Performance Max buys across Search, Shopping, YouTube, Display, Gmail and Maps from a single campaign. Fed well, it finds buyers you would not reach by hand. Fed poorly, it reports conversions from people who already knew your brand and claims credit for them.
FOCUSADS treats Performance Max as an expansion layer. It runs only after conversion tracking is clean, with brand exclusions where appropriate, and it stays in the plan when holdout or geo tests show it adds sales.

Strengths
- Access to all Google inventory from one budget

Limitations
- Limited reporting on where money went
- Tends to drift towards brand and remarketing traffic
- Placement control is coarse compared with Search or YouTube campaigns
Budget suitability
Test budgets are our planning guidance for a fair monthly test. Platform minimums are separate, and media is paid directly to platforms or media owners.
$3,000 to $12,000
Test budget, per month
Needs enough budget for the algorithm to exit learning; scaling waits for a geo or holdout test showing incremental revenue.
At US price levels the planner will not fund this channel below $3,000 of media a month per market, because the signal below that is too thin to act on. In other markets the threshold follows the local price level. That is our planning estimate, not a platform minimum.

Questions buyers ask
Why does Performance Max show great ROAS but sales did not grow? It often claims conversions from brand searches and returning customers. We exclude brand where possible and test incrementality before trusting the number.
Can Performance Max replace my Search campaigns? Rarely as a full replacement. Search gives query-level control and protects brand terms; Performance Max adds reach.
Does it work for lead generation? Only with qualified-lead conversions imported from your CRM. Without them it finds people who fill in forms and rarely buy.
How long does learning take? Typically two to six weeks depending on conversion volume. We avoid edits during that window unless something is broken.
